Gov. Wolf and Secretary of Health Dr. Levine Require Masks
On July 1, Governor Tom Wolf announced that Secretary of Health Dr. Levine signed a Universal Face Covering Order, requiring individuals to wear a face covering when they leave their homes. The Secretary issued this Order to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, which has increased in recent weeks.
Accordingly, effective July 1, all individuals aged two and older must wear a face covering (mask or face shield), unless one of the exceptions to the face covering requirement included in Section 3 of the Order applies.
Exceptions for medical conditions still apply. Library patrons are not required to show documentation when such an exception applies. Additional information is available in the Order and the Department of Health's Masking FAQs.
Per the updated Summer Recreation, Camps and Pools FAQs, youth aged two and older are required to wear a face covering when participating in summer youth programs at the library, unless they can consistently maintain a social distance of six feet when outdoors or a medical exception applies. The Universal Masking Order significantly changes the Summer Recreation, Camps and Pools guidance released in May.
