Poverty Simulation/LSTA Grants to Attending Libraries

By holding Poverty Simulations in regions throughout the state, the State Library of Pennsylvania in partnership with the local Community Action Agency provides a structured setting for public library staff to experience and understand what it feels like to live on a daily basis in poverty and then to discuss what is needed to help these families survive and navigate their way through a complex and frustrating system to move forward with their lives.  Libraries that sent staff to the simulations are then eligible to apply for grant funding to create programs and services that are appropriate to support people living in poverty in their communities.
