Genealogy and Local History

The State Library’s collection in Genealogy and Local History consists of a wide variety of indexes, genealogies, state and county histories, atlases, land warranty maps, ship passenger lists, and compilations of church and cemetery records, as well as the detailed Pennsylvania Federal Census records on microfilm. Items of interest to genealogists and historians include the published Pennsylvania Archives series, regimental histories (primarily from the Revolutionary and Civil Wars), research guides for ethnic and minority groups, and guides to genealogical research in foreign countries. For more information about conducting research with our Genealogy and Local History collection, please check out the Genealogy and Local History Research Guide.
